Jakarta, 26 August 2026 – Geography Education at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) welcomed 115 new students through the 2026 New Student Campus Life Orientation Program (PKKMB) on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Held on the 9th floor of Tower B, SFD Building, the event carried the theme “Empowering Future Leaders with Geographic Insight” and marked an important first step for the new students as they began their university journey in a dynamic and progressive academic environment.

The event officially began at 8:00 a.m. with an opening by the Master of Ceremonies (MC), followed by a Qur’an recitation. The participants then sang Indonesia Raya and the UNJ anthem, before attending a session introducing the University’s Prevention and Response Team for Violence (TIPE), as well as an overview of the student development and cadre-building process within Geography Education.
The first session focused on the Academic Information System (SIAKAD), presented by Syifa Fauziah, the Geography Education administrator. The session introduced new students to the academic and administrative procedures they will encounter throughout their eight semesters of study at UNJ.

Following the SIAKAD session, the new students were introduced to Geography Education through a presentation about the field and its academic environment. The session continued with an introduction to the Geography Education lecturers. Dr. Aris Munandar, S.Pd., M.Si., a Geography Education lecturer and Vice Dean II of FISH UNJ, encouraged the students with a message about the importance of taking the first step toward personal growth.

The session also encouraged students to look beyond their academic performance and GPA by developing their soft skills and exploring the diverse career opportunities available to graduates of Geography Education, including opportunities in various institutions and training organizations.

The second session, an Academic Discussion, was led by Prof. Dr. Cahyadi Setiawan, S.Si., M.Si., Coordinator of Geography Education. He warmly welcomed the new students while introducing them to the academic identity and perspective they will develop throughout their studies.

He emphasized that Geography Education is not simply about mastering geographical knowledge. More importantly, students are expected to learn how to transform that knowledge into meaningful learning experiences that can be shared with and benefit others.
Kontribusi terhadap SDGs dan IKU 3
Throughout the program, PKKMB Geography Education 2026 went beyond welcoming the new students by providing a range of academic orientation sessions. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of Geography Education, the courses they will take throughout their university years, and potential career paths for graduates. These sessions provided students with an initial understanding of the direction of their education and the competencies they need to develop throughout their university journey.
The implementation of PKKMB Geography Education 2026 also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by providing students with access to academic information and helping them become familiar with their learning environment. The program also aligns with Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 3, particularly through the provision of meaningful learning experiences and a supportive educational environment for students as they begin their higher education journey. The event concluded with the announcement of the best participants and groups, an evaluation survey, and a group photo session to recognize the enthusiasm and participation of the new students. Through PKKMB 2026, Geography Education at UNJ hopes that its new students will adapt well to university life and grow into future educators with strong spatial perspectives who are ready to contribute to society.
