FISH UNJ Collaborates with Philippine Women’s University and Three Indonesian Universities to Advance Social Transformation in the Digital Era through the 1st ICGSB 2026

Jakarta, 16 April 2026 - The Faculty of Social Sciences and Law (FISH), Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), successfully held the 1st International Conference & Doctoral Research Presentation under the theme “Global Social & Business Transformation: Innovation, Sustainability, and Strategic Leadership in the Digital Era.” The event served as a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners from various countries to exchange ideas and strengthen global collaboration. It took place at Building 1A, 10th Floor, Campus A, Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

The conference featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Prof. Dr. Felina C. Young, DBA, Chancellor of Philippine Women’s University; Prof. Dr. Komarudin, M.Si., Rector of Universitas Negeri Jakarta; Prof. Dr. Ir. Aisyah Endah Palupi, M.Pd., Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region VI Central Java; Prof. Nina Yulietni, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., Education and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Philippines; Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Ph.D., Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) of the Philippines; Prof. Emer. Dr. Barjoyai Bardai, Professor Emeritus from the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST); and Nozomi Kawarazuka, researcher from the International Potato Center (CIP). The opening remarks were delivered by Firdaus Wajdi, M.A., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

The event opened with a performance by the FISH UNJ Ambassadors, followed by the singing of the national anthems of Indonesia, Indonesia Raya, and the Philippines, Lupang Hinirang, symbolizing international collaboration. The ceremony continued with an opening prayer led by Dr. Ir. Ja'far Amiruddin, M.T.

In his opening remarks, Firdaus Wajdi, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of cross-country and cross-disciplinary collaboration in responding to global transformation in the digital era.

The next remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Komarudin, M.Si., Rector of Universitas Negeri Jakarta. He highlighted that global transformation in the digital era requires not only analytical progress but also strong human values in every process. “Global transformation in the digital era requires more than analytical advancement. It demands empathy, sustainable action, and strategic leadership that places humanity at the center of progress,” he stated. He also reaffirmed UNJ’s commitment to expanding international partnerships to foster innovation and sustainable development.

As a concrete step toward strengthening international collaboration, the event also featured the signing of several cooperation agreements between Philippine Women’s University (PWU) and Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), PWU and Universitas Insan Pembangunan Indonesia (UNIPI), PWU and Universitas Ibnu Khaldun Bogor (UIKA), PWU and Universitas Muhammadiyah Cirebon (UMC), as well as between UNIPI and UNJ. This moment marked a strategic step in broadening global partnership networks and encouraging collaboration in education, research, and human resource development.

The program continued with a speech by Prof. Dr. Felina C. Young, DBA, Chancellor of Philippine Women’s University, who underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing global dynamics. Further remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Francisca Sestri G., S.E., Rector of Universitas Insan Pembangunan Indonesia (UNIPI); Prof. Dr. Widyasari, M.Pd., Rector of Universitas Ibnu Khaldun Bogor (UIKA); and Arif Nurudin, S.T., M.T., Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Cirebon (UMC). Collectively, they emphasized the importance of synergy among higher education institutions in improving the quality of education and research at the global level.

The seminar session began with Prof. Nina Yulietni, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., Education and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Philippines, who delivered an in-depth presentation on strategic issues in international educational cooperation. This was followed by Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Ph.D., Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) of the Philippines, who shared important perspectives on the development of higher education in a global context.

The next session featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Aisyah Endah Palupi, M.Pd., Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region VI Central Java, who highlighted experiences and strategies for strengthening the higher education system. She was followed by Prof. Emer. Dr. Barjoyai Bardai from the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST), who offered in-depth academic insights into social and business transformation.

The seminar also featured Nozomi Kawarazuka from the International Potato Center (CIP), who discussed global perspectives in agricultural research and development. In addition, invited speakers Prof. Dr. Robertus Robet, M.A. and Dr. Syamsulbahri, DBA., Ph.D. shared critical ideas and strategic perspectives drawn from their academic and professional experiences.

Through this series of activities, the international seminar organized by FISH UNJ became not only a forum for intellectual exchange, but also a means of strengthening cross-border collaboration in promoting innovation, sustainability, and strategic leadership in the digital era.
