Jakarta, March 2, 2026 — The Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (FISH UNJ), successfully held The Eurasia International Course 2026 – Session 1 under the theme “Information Society, Artificial Intelligence, and Creative Industries in Southeast Asia.” The session featured Assoc. Prof. Asawin Nedpogaeo, Ph.D. from the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Thailand, as the keynote speaker. He delivered an in-depth discussion on the evolution of the information society and the strategic role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing creative industries across Southeast Asia.
The event took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Building K, FISH UNJ, beginning at 12:45 PM (WIB) with participant registration and technical preparations. The audience, consisting of students and members of the academic community, engaged in a carefully designed program aimed at broadening perspectives on digital transformation and its impact on the creative economy in the technology-driven era.
The official program commenced at 1:00 PM with an opening by the master of ceremonies, followed by welcoming remarks from the organizing committee and departmental representatives at 1:05 PM. In their remarks, organizers emphasized the importance of international academic collaboration in responding to rapid developments in information technology, particularly in harnessing AI across multiple sectors.
The main public lecture, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Asawin Nedpogaeo from 1:10 PM to 1:55 PM, explored the development of the information society alongside digital technological progress. He highlighted how artificial intelligence is increasingly playing a transformative role in driving innovation within creative industries. He also addressed both the opportunities and challenges faced by Southeast Asian countries in optimizing technological adoption for sustainable growth.
Following the lecture, a panel discussion was held from 1:55 PM to 2:25 PM, providing deeper analysis of digital technology utilization and its implications for the creative economy. This session offered participants a multi-perspective understanding of the issue, combining academic insights with practical considerations.
Participant engagement intensified during the Q&A session from 2:25 PM to 2:50 PM. Attendees raised thoughtful questions regarding AI development, digital transformation, and strategic opportunities for strengthening Southeast Asia’s creative industries in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
The event concluded at 2:50 PM with closing remarks summarizing the key insights from the discussions. As a token of appreciation, the organizing committee presented a certificate to the speaker in recognition of his valuable contribution.
